"What makes sponsoring a child at Canaan different from virtually
any other sponsorship organization is that there is absolutely no
"overhead" involved here - 100% of the money that you send as a
sponsor will be used directly for the care, education, and
upbringing of these children. No administrative fees or other
deductions at all." J.K. If you don't see your initials under your sponsored child's photo

Monthly Cost |
|
Food |
Children eat! The orphanage maintains a garden and milking cows. The orphanage buys feed for the cows. To maintain the mini-farming operation and to purchase the food for the children that the orphanage is unable to produce the orphanage relies upon donations. The average cost per child is $60.00/year. |
$5.00/month |
Clothing |
Children grow! While the orphanage has an efficient "hand-me-down" program, with 80 children, the home must purchase new clothing, mattresses, sheets and blankets to replace those worn out and to simply keep the children properly clothed. The average cost per child is $60 per year. |
$5.00/month |
Medical
|
The orphanage has a first aid station at the home, staffed by a technician. That clinic is under development! In Jinja, a local hospital is available to treat most medical needs of the children. The average cost per child to supply medical treatment is $60 per year. |
$5.00/month |
Primary
|
The children are transported in a small pick-up truck owned by the orphanage to St. Moses Primary School, a private Anglican school, five miles from the orphanage. The children are required to obtain uniforms and shoes. The orphanage must raise $30.00 to send each child for a trimester ($90.00/year). |
$7.50/month |
Vocational
|
At 18 years of age, children in Uganda are expected to be self-supporting. To accomplish this task, the orphanage is developing a vocational training program. The older children are quickly approaching the time that they will need these skills. In addition to special needs for tools, materials and classrooms at the orphanage, when distributed over the orphanage population the average cost per child is $30/year. |

Full Sponsorship |
|
$50.00/month |
Canaan is home to nearly 100 children most of whose parents have died of aids. Their support is maintained by soliciting $25-partial /$50-full sponsorships for each child. The chart on this page shows how the expenses are broken down. However, there are other costs incurred such as transportation and maintenance which need to be covered. Thus we encourage multiple sponsorships. The funds sent to Christian Aid Mission are then forwarded to Pastor Isaac who uses them to fund the expenses of home. The sponsorship money does not go directly to the child you sponsor but to a general fund used to run the orphanage.
