Founder Pastor Isaac Wagaba
& Ester Kilabo (orphan)
We realize that these children’s
plight needed urgent attention... and not
just to stand aloof, and pity
or sympathize with them, but that they must be helped in order to realize
their human dignity.
"If a
brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you
says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you
do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it
profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is
dead." James 2:15-17
"Religion
that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look
after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being
polluted by the world." James 1: 27NIV |
- Canaan Children's Transit Center
is a registered Non-Government Organization
(NGO) based in Buziika village - Uganda,
East Africa.
- The Center
was formed in January 2000 to respond to the increasing
number of orphans whose parents have died of HIV / AIDS virus.
- Nearly three decades of civil wars,
high crime rates and highest per capita
rate of HIV / AIDS infection in Uganda -
among others has rendered Uganda a nation of orphans (at least
missing one parent) - orphans beg on the street of Kampala, not for
spare change or food, but for school fees.
- Most orphans in Uganda live with
foster families who do well to send
their own biological children to school, they simply cannot afford
more.
- Most of the time, orphans are left
without opportunity to attend school.
The primary function of African Child Foundation is to bridge
the lives of these children from a hopeless situation to a
constructive future.
